NYC Cyber Center
NYC feels that cyber security is so important that it’s starting a campaign called CYBER NYC. Besides making the internet more secure, NYC wants to create 10,000 new jobs over the next 10 years.
A nonprofit organization called NYC Economic Development Corp. (NYCEDC), promotes economic growth and job expansion in NYC. They hope to attract companies to their Chelsea cybersecurity hub and coworking space. The city of NYC will invest $30 million along with $70 million from private investors. Fighting cyber crime is the goal for this 15,000-square-foot space.
The cost of cyber crime is on the rise. The research firm Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that by 2021 cyber crime could cost the world $6 trillion.
Attracting companies, increasing jobs, adding vitality to NYC and fighting cyber crime. This is a win win for NYC.
