NYPD Security Plans for Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting

Security - Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Tomorrow, Wednesday November 28th will be the 2018 Lighting of the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller
Center.

NYPD gives a press conference about Security for the Rockefeller Center Christmas
Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Just like other events that attract large crowds in NYC, security will be on high alert.

There will be street closures, so take public transportation.

Bag checks, and hand wand screening will be done at the 6 entrance access points.
No umbrellas, backpacks or large bags will be allowed.

Thousands of officers along with counter terrorism and special ops will be on patrol.
Rooftop coverage with long guns, the bike task force, dogs and mounted units will also be
deployed to keep the people safe. Other precautions include cement blocks and light towers.

There are no current threats at this time.
